Director, Healthcare Technology Product Sales

Avalere Health is seeking a Director to join our Life Sciences Client Solutions practice.

Avalere Health is seeking a Director to join our Life Sciences Client Solutions practice. The practice focuses on business development, account relationship management, and product sales for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, device, and diagnostic companies. The ideal candidate is a persuasive leader, who can comfortably explain a concept, and then map a potential client’s problems to Avalere’s solutions. These leaders are a crucial part of Avalere’s growth, and will do everything from help launch new programs and lines of business to generate interest and connections on existing products and programs across our industry.

This Director will be the firm sales leader for Avalere Market Navigator, a market insights platform based on one of Avalere’s proprietary datasets, intended for life sciences companies. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with sales and product development leadership to set comprehensive product sales strategy; serve as primary salesperson for assigned product
  • Collaborate with sales/marketing analytics colleagues and account relationship managers to prospect and build new business
  • Develop pitch and demo strategy to convincingly demonstrate the value of data-derived insights to a biopharmaceutical company’s business
  • Engage the customer emotionally, creating a preference to buy and a feeling of partiality towards the product or service. Demonstrate and communicate the ROI of a product
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the competitive landscape and the features and functionalities of other offerings
  • Manage complex sales with multiple stakeholders and decision makers; manage the customer for timely decisions, dealing with objections, negotiating final price and conditions of sale
  • Offer unique perspective by delivering insightful data, solutions or experiences to customers that helps them better compete in their own end-market
  • Identify, build relationships with, and support the customer stakeholders best able to mobilize consensus for a purchase decision
  • Conduct consultative onsite and online presentations to educate prospective clients on our services, including articulating a compelling vision of client solutions
  • Negotiate pricing and contracts with prospective clients
  • Meet quarterly and annual revenue goals through management of a sales pipeline with pursuits in various stages of the evaluation process

Skills, Experience, and Other Job Related Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in a related field
  • 5-8 years’ experience selling healthcare data solutions to biopharmaceutical companies
  • Success selling healthcare data products to biopharmaceutical companies
  • Knowledge of and/or relationships with key decision makers at top biopharmaceutical companies, and key functional areas within these companies (e.g., managed markets, HEOR, business analytics)
  • Success setting sales strategy for data-oriented products, or demonstrated aptitude to do so
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales goals
  • Experience managing multiple, competing priorities
  • Ability to conduct presentations and facilitate group discussions
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 50%
  • Valid Driver’s License

Additional Skills and Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of healthcare claims data analytic methods within the context of selling related products 
  • Consultative cross-selling and closing skills or the aptitude to learn these skills
  • Knowledge of and ability to use CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • Proven negotiation and persuasion skills
  • Demonstrated listening skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and act independently with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to build relationships and work well across functions 
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking with an entrepreneurial spirit
