Director, Synergy Business Development Operations

Avalere Health is seeking a Director to join our Life Sciences Client Solutions practice. The practice focuses on business development, account relationship management, and product sales for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, device, and diagnostic companies. The ideal candidate is a persuasive leader, who can comfortably explain a concept, and then map a potential client’s problems to Avalere’s solutions, as well as those of our parent company, Inovalon Holdings (Inovalon). 

This Director will focus his/her time enabling the sales of an exciting new suite of data- and technology-driven solutions made possible through synergies between Avalere and Inovalon. Together, Avalere and Inovalon are bringing life sciences clients innovative offerings driven by deep subject matter expertise; large scale, real world datasets; an integrated technology platform; and patient and provider interventions that are driving the shift from volume to value in today’s healthcare environment and creating competitive advantage for our biopharmaceutical and medical device clients.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues within Avalere and Inovalon to become familiar with joint life sciences offerings, including an in-depth knowledge of Avalere/Inovalon data assets and the capabilities of the Inovalon ONE™ technology platform
  • Understand the execution model of joint life sciences offerings by keeping abreast of ongoing client engagements
  • Support the execution of the business development and sales strategy for joint Avalere/Inovalon offerings to life sciences companies by directly engaging with clients via phone, email, and in-person sales meetings (in partnership with sales leadership) to represent the Avalere/Inovalon joint capabilities, value proposition, and execution model   
  • Facilitate rapid execution of the sales process by coordinating across Avalere and Inovalon stakeholders to conceptualize the structure of joint engagements, lead the development of proposals, and support sales staff and executive leadership in closing deals
  • Maintain the sales pipeline for joint Avalere/Inovalon life sciences offerings within CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and represent progress to sales and firmwide leadership on a regular basis
  • Enable coordinated and organized sales efforts of joint Avalere/Inovalon offerings by maintaining a library of related resources (e.g., pitch decks, proposals, sales collateral, etc.)
  • Support the attainment of quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the competitive landscape and the features and functionalities of other offerings
  • Educate colleagues across Avalere on joint Avalere/Inovalon life science offerings and progress
  • Lead internal ideation sessions on new Avalere/Inovalon joint offerings

Skills, Experience, and Other Job Related Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in a related field
  • 6 years’ experience in a healthcare and/or technology field
  • Experience managing multiple, competing priorities
  • Client facing experience/success within a sales, consulting, or technology implementation context
  • Experience selling and/or executing technology-focused or data-driven healthcare solutions
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales goals or similar personal and organizational growth objectives
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to use CRM tools such as Salesforce
  • Ability to conduct presentations and facilitate group discussions
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 30%
  • Valid Driver’s License 

Additional Skills and Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of healthcare data types and analytic methods, or demonstrated aptitude to learn 
  • Working knowledge of the life sciences industry (biopharmaceuticals, medical device), or demonstrated aptitude to learn 
  • Demonstrated listening skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and act independently with minimal supervision 
  • Ability to distill complex concepts and technologies into approachable content
  • Superior organizational and project management skills
  • Superior business writing skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in utilizing MS Office for business purposes
  • Ability to build relationships and work well across functions and within a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking with an entrepreneurial spirit
