Director/Senior Director, Health Services Researcher

Avalere Health is seeking a Health Services Researcher at the Director or Senior Director level to join our growing Health Economics and Advanced Analytics (HEAA) practice.

Avalere Health is seeking a Health Services Researcher at the Director or Senior Director level to join our growing Health Economics and Advanced Analytics (HEAA) practice. The HEAA practice consists of staff with specialized experience, such as health service researchers, health economists, clinicians, and project managers, who conceptualize, execute, and deliver qualitative, analytical, and strategy-based work products for clients. We also work closely with other practices within Avalere, applying the full scope of the firm’s knowledge base to the development of multi-disciplinary, creative solutions on behalf of our clients.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interface with clients to design health economics and outcomes research studies, protocols, economic models, predictive and advanced analytics, observational research, reports, and publications
  • Independently manage workflow and make direct contributions to the research process
  • Develop and author study reports, scientific publications, abstracts, and posters
  • Contribute to development of proposals and concept papers
  • Solve complex client issues in a timely and appropriate manner with minimal management oversight
  • Work within the research team to identify areas for delivering innovation in predictive analytics to clients
  • Support use of advanced analytics in automated technology product solutions

Skills, Experience, and Other Job Related Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • MA/MS or PhD in economics, health economics, health policy, health services research, pharmacy administration, public health, epidemiology, statistics or related discipline
  • 8-10 years of consulting, healthcare industry, academia, or pharmaceutical/device industry experience required
  • Broad knowledge of health economics, health services research, predictive analytics, and analytic designs
  • Proficiency in design and execution of economic modeling studies, observational research, and predictive analytics using large administrative claims/EMR or registry datasets
  • Understanding of the systematic literature review process
  • Working knowledge of statistical software packages such as SAS, and/or STATA or R
  • Descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, predictive analytic or machine learning methods, and/or econometric skills
  • Experience in presenting research at scientific conferences and/or a record of peer-reviewed publications

Additional Skills and Competencies:

  • 5 years of solid consulting experience and/or supervisory and leadership experience
  • Experience working in a product or program development environment
  • Excellent project management and presentation skills
  • Solid communication skills, including the ability to concisely explain complicated concepts to executives within and outside of the firm
  • Demonstrates strong commitment to the overall success of the firm’s objectives and goals
  • Effectively communicate with clients around implications of research and analysis to provide guidance for client business decisions
  • Ability to independently manage multiple work streams with limited supervision
