Claire Sheahan, Senior Vice President, helps clients integrate top-flight communications strategies with their business and policy plans. Claire leads the Avalere Communications practice, serving clients across the healthcare spectrum. With more than 18 years of experience in public relations, public affairs, and corporate communications, she capitalizes on the latest marketplace insights to provide communications services that provide show, not just tell clients stories.
Claire comes to Avalere with both in-house and communications agency experience. She grew and then led the Fleishman Hillard healthcare practice in Washington DC, serving clients in the pharmaceutical, payer, device, non-profit, and government sectors. She also has spent years working on managed care and generics issues, having served as public affairs manager at the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and leading communications at the Generic Pharmaceutical Association. She also contributed to national public health and public safety campaigns at GMMB, an integrated communications firm.
Claire holds a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MSc with Distinction in Media and Communications from the London School of Economics.
Liz Moore, Manager, advises internal Life Sciences clients on marketing strategy with a specific focus on content curation and development. She also has experience providing media relations and public affairs counsel on issues pertaining to health policy.
Prior to joining Avalere, Liz was a Communications Director at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), tracking issues and legislation related to Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act , medication adherence and cost. In this role, she crafted and placed communications in national media and coordinated media interviews. Prior to that, she was a Public Information Officer for the American Medical Association, monitoring issues pertaining to Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, Medicare regulations, fraud, vaccinations, ICD-10, health care spending and physician income.
Liz holds a BA in English from Wittenberg University, Springfield, OH.
Susan Massaro, Vice President, advises Life Sciences clients across a variety of areas, delivering research, analytics and strategic insights to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and device companies. Susan’s expertise in in medical affairs and health economics and outcomes research enables her to engage clients across a wide array of topics. Susan also has a great deal of experience in product launches across a number of therapeutic areas and expertise in developing and executing clinical and outcomes research.
Prior to joining Avalere, Susan was a Head and Business Partner at Novartis Pharmaceuticals, developing and implementing outcomes research strategy for the Integrated Hospital Care and Primary Care & Established Medicines Medical Units. Susan was originally a practicing pharmacist with a specialty focus in pediatric critical care but has spent the last 18 years in various roles in the pharmaceutical industry.
Susan holds a BA in Pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh and a PharmD from The Ohio State University. She completed an ASHP accredited specialty residency in pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio and recently graduated from the Executive MPH program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Prior to joining Avalere, Melyssa was Account Supervisor Managed Markets, for MediMedia, an ICON plc Company, where she partnered with clients across multiple business units and therapeutic categories to develop communications plans and content to educate and inform target audiences. Prior to that, as Account Supervisor for Cline Davis & Mann, she served as the key contact for pharmaceutical client’s brand team, managing the development of promotional HCP and DTC initiatives. Prior to that, as Senior Account Executive and Account Executive for GSW Worldwide, supporting pharmaceutical client’s brand team efforts.
Melyssa has a BS in Communications Studies, Public Relations from Liberty University.
