Kristi Mitchell, Senior Vice President, leads client engagements involving the use of clinical data for strategic decision-making across multiple industries, including life sciences, health plans, and professional societies. In this capacity, she provides strategic guidance for innovative collection and utilization of data, as well as, oversees the diffusion of best practice in quality measurement development, implementation, and evaluation across multiples industries.
Prior to joining Avalere, Kristi worked at the American College of Cardiology (ACC), leading the development of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry, most recently as the Chief Science Officer. Prior to the ACC, she assessed the impact of public health policies, programs, and practices on health outcomes at Battelle Centers for Public Health Policy and Evaluation and at the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, San Francisco.
Kristi has an AB in Human Biology and Public Policy from Brown University and a MPH in Public Health Policy Administration and Epidemiology from University of Michigan. She sits on the FDA MDEpiNet Interim Advisory Committee and the Pew Trust Future of Medical Device Registry Stakeholder Group.
Angel Valladares, Manager, provides research and analytic support for clients within the field of evidence-based medicine and healthcare quality measurement and improvement. Angel has experience in quality measure feasibility and development specifically as it relates to electronic clinical quality measures, as well as experience in patient-centered outcomes research, qualitative and quantitative research, program evaluation, and the design and implementation of clinical research studies.
Prior to joining Avalere, Angel was a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan’s School of Nursing; designing, implementing and managing an NIH-funded research grant which lead to several peer-reviewed publications. The objective of the project was to develop an innovative virtual platform for delivering evidence-based training to clinicians in a variety of disciplines and professions. Through his training he has harnessed skills and knowledge around population health and epidemiology, statistical and survey methodology, health communications delivery and healthcare policy analysis.
Angel received an MPH from the University of Michigan and a BS in Biological Science and Anthropology from Florida State University.
Debbie Lucas, Vice President, advises clients on value strategies, market access, and evidence generation. Debbie leads efforts with life sciences companies, professional societies, quality improvement organizations, and healthcare providers related to the strategic collection and use of clinical data to improve patient care with a particular emphasis on electronic health data. Most recently she worked on an initiative that brought together the healthcare provider and EHR communities to design a module focused on childhood obesity to support improvements in healthcare via shared decision-making, care coordination, and self-management.
Prior to joining Avalere, Debbie was the Director of Clinical Quality and Consulting at DocSite (later acquired by Covisint) and spent much of her career at GlaxoSmithKline.
Debbie has a BS in Biology from Baldwin-Wallace College and a MPH in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan. She was a member of the Commonwealth Fund’s Health Care Leaders Opinion Survey Panel.
Morenike Ayo-Vaughan, Senior Associate, provides research support for clients within the field of healthcare quality measurement and improvement. Morenike has experience in clinical guidelines development, health policy research, and hospital administration.
Prior to joining Avalere, Morenike was a Practice Operations Associate for Privia Health, creating the framework for CMS Meaningful Use program for multispecialty providers and conducting analyses to examine the effectiveness of population health interventions. Prior to that, as a Lean Six Sigma Consultant to the Lombardi Cancer Center, she performed analysis and made recommendations around patient clinical experiences.
Morenike has an MS in Health Systems Administration from Georgetown University and a BS in Public Health from Temple University.
