Kristi Mitchell

Senior Vice President


Kristi Mitchell, Senior Vice President, leads client engagements involving the use of clinical data for strategic decision-making across multiple industries, including life sciences, health plans, and professional societies. In this capacity, she provides strategic guidance for innovative collection and utilization of data, as well as, oversees the diffusion of best practice in quality measurement development, implementation, and evaluation across multiples industries.

Prior to joining Avalere, Kristi worked at the American College of Cardiology (ACC), leading the development of the National Cardiovascular Data Registry, most recently as the Chief Science Officer. Prior to the ACC, she assessed the impact of public health policies, programs, and practices on health outcomes at Battelle Centers for Public Health Policy and Evaluation and at the Institute for Health Policy Studies at the University of California, San Francisco.

Kristi has an AB in Human Biology and Public Policy from Brown University and a MPH in Public Health Policy Administration and Epidemiology from University of Michigan. She sits on the FDA MDEpiNet Interim Advisory Committee and the Pew Trust Future of Medical Device Registry Stakeholder Group.

Michelle Bruno



Michelle Bruno, Director, advises clients on developments and trends in evidence-based medicine, healthcare quality improvement, and performance measurement related to different therapeutic areas and clinical practices.  Michelle has expertise in qualitative research design and tool development for quality improvement implementation.

Prior to Avalere, Michelle was a Senior Health Care Quality Analyst at the American College of Cardiology and a Senior Program Associate at The National Academies, Institute of Medicine.

Michelle has an MPP with concentrations in Health Policy and Public and Non-Profit Management from Georgetown University and a BA in Government and French from the University of Notre Dame.

Angel Valladares



Angel Valladares, Manager, provides research and analytic support for clients within the field of evidence-based medicine and healthcare quality measurement and improvement. Angel has experience in quality measure feasibility and development specifically as it relates to electronic clinical quality measures, as well as experience in patient-centered outcomes research, qualitative and quantitative research, program evaluation, and the design and implementation of clinical research studies.

Prior to joining Avalere, Angel was a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan’s School of Nursing; designing, implementing and managing an NIH-funded research grant which lead to several peer-reviewed publications. The objective of the project was to develop an innovative virtual platform for delivering evidence-based training to clinicians in a variety of disciplines and professions. Through his training he has harnessed skills and knowledge around population health and epidemiology, statistical and survey methodology, health communications delivery and healthcare policy analysis.

Angel received an MPH from the University of Michigan and a BS in Biological Science and Anthropology from Florida State University.

Joseph Lynch



Joseph Lynch, Director, supports clients through the use of clinical data for strategic decision-making. With a background in the use of clinically-enriched administrative data and data derived from clinicians and patients, he assists clients by using clinical data for strategic decision making, implementing local quality improvement efforts, and developing business strategies to support data collection and integration across health care settings. Joseph has special expertise in designing and implementing patient registries and developing and validating performance measures.

Prior to joining Avalere, Joseph was a Director at Remedy Informatics, where he managed the design and implementation of CV clinical registries as well as developed and validated registry-based performance measures for quality reporting and research.  Prior to that, Joseph held Senior Director positions at Inovalon, where his contributions ranged from managing strategic application of EHR initiative capabilities to support expansion of ACO and HIE capabilities within the organization to consulting with professional societies in designing, implementing, and maintaining clinical registries.  

Joseph has an AA in Nursing from Montgomery College and is a Registered Nurse.
