Associate Principal, Account Relationship Management

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Create a target business plan that includes focus on business development (BD) strategy (advisory services and syndication), market intelligence gathering, and internal coordination targeting one or more functional areas or buying centers in life sciences companies
  • Organize pursuit teams; participate and lead aspects of the proposal development process; contribute to the development of proposal pricing strategies
  • Lead the development of BD collateral (e.g., pitch decks)
  • Coordinate with multiple account teams to identify and execute on BD opportunities
  • Collaborate with Avalere’s subject-matter experts to identify and understand new opportunities
  • Anticipate proactively customer needs based on market activity and guiding firm investment in new areas
  • Conduct market intelligence to understand key competitors
  • Set quarterly and annual goals and metrics to assess progress

Account Relationship Management

  • Serve as a primary senior relationship/business development liaison with multiple (3–5) high priority accounts
  • Lead account engagement planning and budgeting by mobilizing and managing account teams, defining the optimal client relationship structure and content needs
  • Collaborate on creation of business plans and execute tactical implementation of account plans to meet objectives
  • Coordinate the generation of new leads and support execution of business development goals
  • Present demonstrations of Avalere products that are tailored to accounts and Avalere relationships and are in context of past and existing work streams
  • Ensure the update and use of systems like, Deltek, and LinkedIn accounts and coach team members on usage and best practices
  • Represent Avalere and build relationships with clients and prospective clients at venues selected to increase Avalere market visibility (e.g., professional conferences) and executive-level engagement
  • Establish and maintain contact with top decision makers at key clients to facilitate buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client
  • Synthesize subject-matter expertise from across the firm to deliver clients unique and targeted insights that compel the client to change perspective or manage business in a new way
  • Provide oversight on project work within specific buying center
  • Contribute to firm visibility and marketing campaigns to support buying center goals
  • Direct on-time, quality delivery of work products; manage engagement economics; manage engagement risk

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience

Skill Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare issues and the life sciences industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; highly professional presence; ability to interact with board-level and C-level executives
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize work streams effectively under deadline, with timely execution and resolution of action items
  • Ethical, confident, and creative, with a persistent “can do” attitude
  • Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationship with colleagues and clients to achieve solutions-oriented goals
  • Proactive mindset and approach; ability to think several steps ahead to client conversions, anticipate teammates’ needs, and suggest improvements to existing processes
  • Openness to feedback and learning; willing to coach and teach others;
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Willingness to travel

Experience Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional experience working with senior-level executives
  • Experience in preparing and proofing documents for executive-level audience preferred
  • Familiarity with developing and maintaining sales plans and managing multiple initiatives and work streams
