Avalere Health is seeking a Consultant I or Consultant II to join its growing Center for Healthcare Transformation. This team of experts works to enable next-generation healthcare delivery through quality improvement, care delivery innovation and implementation science methods. We work with virtually every sector of the healthcare industry (life sciences, professional societies, patient advocacy, health plans, providers, digital health companies) to help them prepare for – and succeed in – the evolving healthcare marketplace. This position will focus specifically on issues related to new models of care that use technology and digital health to drive provider, patient, and caregiver engagement. The role will manage complex projects and initiatives that are multi-year, multi-stakeholder implementation efforts with the goal of changing how care is delivered. Although content-based and substantive, a primary responsibility of this role will be client engagement, including the generation of new opportunities for work by leading business development efforts focused on next-generation healthcare delivery through strategy, innovation, digital health, and patient engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages multiple mid- to large-sized projects and teams to ensure that the breadth of Avalere’s knowledge and expertise is available to meet client needs
  • Demonstrates advanced subject-matter expertise related to digital health, care delivery innovation and patient engagement in order to solve complex client problems
  • Makes meaningful business development and sales contributions, including the writing of contracts and scopes of work with little oversight
  • Assesses client needs and requests by translating them into actionable solutions that reflect the current healthcare environment
  • Leads the conceptualization of projects for clients, assembling a cross-functional team, and overseeing the team from business development process to project initiation through to client delivery and follow-up
  • Provides guidance and direction to project teams on a broad range of client projects involving diverse, cross-functional, and cross-practice teams
  • Engages clients with novel solutions and ideas that deepen client relationships
  • Creates both strategic and tactical recommendations for clients
  • Contributes to project profitability through excellent project management
  • Presents and communicates project findings and recommendations in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to our clients and in various forums (e.g., on-site client meetings, teleconferences, multi-stakeholder roundtables)
  • Solves complex client issues in a timely and appropriate manner with minimal management oversight
  • Mentors, supervises, and trains staff members within the Center for Healthcare Transformation and across the firm

Skills, Experience, and Other Job-Related Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in working with partners in the health care system to improve care delivery to patients, with at least 3 years of demonstrated experience in consulting; private-sector consulting experience preferred
  • A degree in health policy, health services research, healthcare management, public health, health economics, law, business administration, or a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and decision-making skills
  • Advanced communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to concisely explain complicated concepts to executives within and outside of the firm
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and providing guidance to junior staff
  • Exhibits excellent project oversight and management skills, with an ability to work independently on multiple projects with competing priorities and a strong commitment to tracking budgets, adhering to timelines and client engagement
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills that translate into positive relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Commitment to working in a team environment with an emphasis on collaboration and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues and clients
