Consultant I / II, Consulting Sales

Avalere Health is seeking a Consultant I or Consultant II to join the Account Relationship Management (ARM) function within our Client Solutions practice.

The team helps our customers create and use evidence to drive business, clinical, regulatory, and reimbursement decisions. This position will be responsible for management, business development, and administrative tasks related to the ongoing operation and growth of several client accounts. The Consultant will regularly work with the senior leadership team within the account, their assistants, corresponding Avalere leadership and administrative staff, as well as his or her peers across the firm. He or she must be highly successful at building and maintaining these relationships. The ideal team member will have superior organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability work effectively across multiple initiatives in a fast-paced and highly collaborative setting. This person will need to be fluent in healthcare policy and business strategy and comfortable working across many healthcare subject matter areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Acts as account lead for multiple Tier I, II, and III accounts
  • Serves as primary business development liaison with accounts, leveraging high quality work to grow client relationships
  • Generates and cultivates leads and executes on business development goals
  • Develops and successfully pitches project ideas; identifies account gaps and opportunities
  • Uses advanced healthcare knowledge and consulting acumen to translate policy and healthcare developments into project ideas and pull through opportunities
  • Writes client-ready scopes
  • Identifies and engages firm SMEs for projects and BD efforts
  • Coordinates with Avalere’s account teams as needed
  • Monitors and documents account developments, including staff and organizational changes
  • Develops strong working relationships with account leads, potential customers, and their network via direct communication or communication through executive assistants
  • Prepares client-ready BD collateral (e.g., pitch decks) and leads BD presentations
  • Conducts independent, tailored demonstrations of Avalere products in the context of past or existing work streams
  • Directs work of junior staff; may supervise
  • Leads business development and administrative team calls and meetings (both internal and external)
  • Updates information and communications in CRM database ( and coaches team members on best practices
  • Schedules business development and administrative team calls and meetings (both internal and external)

Education Requirements

  • BA/BS degree; may have MA/MS degree

Experience Requirements

  • 3-8 years professional experience working with senior-level executives; prior consultative sales experience preferred
  • Experience in preparing high-quality documents for executive-level audiences
