Medical Writer, Senior Associate

Avalere Health is seeking a Medical Writer to join our Health Economics & Advanced Analytics (HEAA) practice.

The HEAA practice works with life sciences companies and other healthcare sectors to quantify and communicate the real-world value of healthcare interventions and to align our clients’ business strategies with the evidentiary demands of an increasingly value-driven marketplace. We are driven by deep subject-matter expertise, differentiated and proprietary real-world data assets, and an emphasis on sound business strategy coupled with rigorous research and advanced analytic capabilities. The medical writer will lead and participate in the organization, development, and editing of publications, final reports, presentations, and other forms of dissemination for research work developed by the HEAA team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop content, including hands-on creation of scientific outlines, drafts, and other material for advisory boards, slide kits, speaker training materials, educational symposia, white papers, and research insights
  • Edit manuscripts, slides, and executive summaries for accuracy and clarity
  • Incorporate author/reviewer revisions
  • Assists in the development and implementation of publication planning in association with all authors
  • Manage and coordinate the development, finalization, and submission of scientific publications and other relevant documents
  • Provide editorial assistance in support of scientific publications and study reports; ensures high quality documentation with regard to scientific content, organization, clarity, accuracy, format, consistency, and adherence to regulatory and internal guidelines
  • Develop and maintain timelines for document generation, revision, and completion, in collaboration with other study team members
  • Coordinate and manage review cycles, incorporate team comments, and lead discussions on document revision and finalization

Skills, Experience, and Other Job-Related Requirements

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s, PhD, or commensurate years’ experience preferred

Skill Requirements

  • Expert knowledge and application of scientific principles and concepts
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Office products including Word, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Excellent and proven leadership skills, team skills, and written and oral communication skills
  • Strong ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought
  • Advanced technical writing skills
  • Ability to produce reports, publications, and documents independently
  • Skills in evaluating and editing the writing of others
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing, project management, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to independently manage multiple work streams with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated problem solving, analytical reasoning, and decision-making skills and strong commitment to meeting goals and deadlines

Experience Requirements

  • 8+ years of medical writing experience
  • Consulting background preferred
