Senior Associate, Client Solutions and Business Development

Avalere is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Client Solutions practice.

Avalere Health is a leading strategic advisory firm focused on the intersection of business strategy, research, and public policy. Located in Washington, DC, Avalere works with a diverse range of clients spanning Fortune 500 pharmaceutical, medical device, health plans, government agencies, advocacy and patient groups, and other organizations who seek to improve the US healthcare system.

The Associate/Senior Associate will have the opportunity to grow in healthcare industry experience and strategic consulting, develop skills around business development and service offering demonstration, and achieve success professionally and personally though expanding their network. The role’s primary responsibility will be to contribute to the acquisition of new clients and to foster relationships with those clients to support their needs through Avalere’s service offerings. This will include direct client engagement, collaboration across Avalere’s range of subject matter experts, and execution of processes from lead qualification through contract negotiation, and contribution to strategic decision-making around new offerings and client targets.

Responsibilities

New Client Business Development

  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities through triaging in-bound inquiries and follow-up, partnering with Avalere leaders to establish new relationships through networks, execute out-bound content-driven outreach and marketing efforts, and expanding relationships with clients to support their business objectives
  • Support preparation of client BD meetings through development of materials, collaboration with Avalere subject matter experts, documentation of feedback of client and next steps, and management of  follow-up actions
  • Research prospect and client news or activity to be versed on potential client needs and challenges they may be facing, and  then articulate this research to Avalere colleagues
  • Share relevant Avalere content with appropriate client/prospect contacts to offer value and generate interest in discussing the applicability of it to their business needs
  • Present Avalere as a firm, including areas of expertise, data analytics capabilities, and experience supporting the life sciences industry
  • Execute out-bound tactics and strategies set by Marketing and Client Solutions leadership

Sales Process Management

  • Manage internal process of developing proposal, pitch, SOW, and other relevant work product by drafting initial versions and collaborating with practices, sales operations, finance, and legal to review contracts in an efficient and timely manner
  • Ensure updated and accurate status of opportunities through use of through use of Salesforce.com
  • Upwardly manage senior Avalere colleagues to ensure their input and guidance is incorporated into all BD work products

Other

  • Maintain compliance with Inovalon’s policies, procedures, and mission statement
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalon’s operating policies and procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the company
  • Uphold responsibilities relative to the separation of duties for applicable processes and procedures within your job function

Skills, Experience, and Other Job-Related Requirements

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent years of experience)

Skill Requirements

  • Knowledge of healthcare issues and the life sciences industry
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, highly professional presence; ablity to interact with board-level and C-level executives
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Laser focus on details of contracting, scope writing, crafting emails, developing client-ready materials in MS PPT and Word, and general attention to detail
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and drive for identifying and fostering new business opportunities
  • Independence and sound judgment to identify client needs, determine appropriate follow-up, and organize the appropriate resources
  • Action-oriented, forward-looking, and strategic with strong sense of urgency and initiative to get things done by influencing others and building relationships in a team-oriented, collaborative atmosphere
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize work streams effectively under deadline, with timely execution and resolution of action items
  • In the future, following public health emergency, willingness to travel (up to 30%) for business development purposes (i.e., meetings, not on-site client work)

Experience Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional experience working within healthcare, with preference for a focus on advisory services or life sciences
  • Experience in a client-facing role for advisory services, consulting, or related services in healthcare preferred
  • Experience in preparing and proofing documents for executive-level audience
  • Experience supporting clients and internal stakeholders in a hands-on, fast-paced, high-touch environment
  • Experience using salesforce.com, Outreach.IO, or similar platforms
