Summary

Avalere is seeking qualified candidates at the Associate and Senior Associate level as part of its annual recruitment program.

Avalere Health’s recruiting program is rigorous and highly selective.

Candidates hired through this process will most likely begin their work in the summer of 2014 with a cohort of other Associates/Senior Associates, although if schedules permit they are welcome to start sooner.

Position Descriptions & Qualifications /

Associate /

Applicants at the Associate level should have completed or be about to complete an undergraduate or graduate degree in public policy, public health, public administration, business, statistics, economics, mathematics, or other related fields. Applicants with concentrations in other disciplines requiring strong quantitative and analytical skills, who have an interest in healthcare and public policy, are also encouraged to apply. The Associate position is specifically tailored towards recent graduates with limited work experience.

Candidates will be expected to assume significant levels of responsibility across a diverse range of healthcare related projects. Responsibilities will include: Key Skills

    Conducting qualitative and quantitative research on a diverse array of healthcare issues (i.e., key informant interviews, white and grey literature searches, etc.).
    Working in cross-functional teams to contribute to the development and delivery of projects to clients.
    Contributing to written summaries, white papers, and PowerPoint presentations to provide strategic recommendations to clients.
    Becoming a content expert within the firm and with clients on key healthcare issues.
    Attending and reporting on government healthcare meetings to enhance Avalere’s expertise in this area.
    Simultaneously performing work on various projects with multiple managers, across various teams.
    Providing basic project management support, including the preparation of meeting materials and background information.
    Undergoing an extensive on-the-job training program.

Successful candidates will possess the following skills: Senior Associate /

    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    Sound analytic, problem solving, and quantitative skills.
    A willingness to learn complex issues related to the healthcare delivery system.
    Ability to perform basic research in varied formats.
    Basic presentation and public speaking skills.
    Prior experience working as a team member on complex projects and meeting deadlines.
    A positive, professional, and solution-oriented attitude that allows the candidate to assimilate into the Avalere culture quickly.
    Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
    High level of initiative and commitment to excellence.
    Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills.
    Basic understanding of the consulting environment.

Applicants at the Senior Associate level should have prior, relevant full-time work experience and have completed their graduate studies in public policy, public health, public administration, business, statistics, economics, mathematics, or other related fields. Applicants without a graduate degree should possess the equivalent in terms of directly-related work experience. Avalere seeks candidates with a wide variety of work experience such as performing policy analysis at the federal or state government level, serving as a consultant in a management or reimbursement consulting firm, completing an academic fellowship, etc. Project task-management experience is essential for Senior Associate candidates. Experience organizing and supervising the work of others in the conducting of research or policy analysis is preferred.

Candidates will be expected to assume significant levels of responsibility across a diverse range of healthcare related projects. Responsibilities will include: Key Skills

    Conducting qualitative and quantitative research on a diverse array of healthcare issues (i.e., key informant interviews, white and grey literature searches, etc.).
    Working independently and in cross-functional teams to contribute to the development and delivery of projects to clients.
    Drafting written summaries, white papers, and PowerPoint presentations to provide strategic recommendations to clients.
    Using content expertise, solid proofreading and layout skills to build client deliverables.
    Acting with limited oversight to apply knowledge of research tools and analytical approaches to develop content.
    Assisting in stewarding of project-based accounts.
    Drafting scopes of work and using subject matter expertise to collaborate and bridge work across practices.
    Regularly acting as project manager and is responsible for high levels of project management.
