Hafez expands Avalere's market access capabilities with deep expertise in strategy, operations, commercialization, and analytics.

Omar joins Avalere’s Market Access team as a managing director and will be based in South San Francisco. He will be advising a range of clients on issues, including supply chain, drug pricing, launch strategy, and oncology market analytics and planning.

“We are at a pivotal moment in healthcare—the biopharmaceutical pipeline holds tremendous promise, and now is the time for life sciences companies to take a closer look at how they are positioning themselves in the marketplace,” said Lance Grady, Practice Director at Avalere. “Omar’s experience working across the healthcare sector and helping drive change through the use of data will prove invaluable in helping customers differentiate themselves.”

Omar previously led McKesson Specialty Health’s multisource products group. In this role, he held profit and loss responsibilities for specialty generics, biosimilars, and drugs launching into crowded spaces. Omar also managed the development and execution of their oncology and rheumatology biosimilar strategies.  Additionally, he integrated advanced analytics into key functions of McKesson’s business, including pricing strategy, customer segmentation, product campaign design, and portfolio optimization.

Prior to McKesson, Omar held roles at A.T. Kearney, Chicago Venture Partners, Omnicell, and HDC Corporation.

He has an MBA from Chicago Booth School of Business, an MS in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, and a BS in mechanical engineering from Columbia University.

“I look forward to partnering with life-science companies to help them create and drive innovative go-to-market strategies that are grounded by Avalere’s robust data set,” said Omar Hafez, Managing Director at Avalere. “We are seeing rapid change in the specialty care sector, which presents tremendous opportunities to improve patient access to new and existing products.”

Omar is the first of a cross-disciplinary team of new hires that will be based in South San Francisco, CA, as Avalere moves toward opening a new west-coast office location in 2021.
