Joseph Tkacz works closely with life sciences clients to design observational research studies, health economic evaluations, and market landscape assessments.
Joseph has particular expertise in the design and execution of observational, retrospective database analyses, and his work has been published across a wide range of therapeutic areas.
Joseph has more than 15 years of experience in health outcomes and health services research spanning the academic, non-profit, and private sectors. He has authored/co-authored over 120 conference abstracts and nearly 40 scholarly manuscripts in a variety of clinical and health services journals, including the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, Leukemia & Lymphoma, The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice, and the American Journal of Managed Care. Joseph has received research awards from several professional societies including the International Society for Pharmacoeconomic and Outcomes Research, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy; National Comprehensive Cancer Network; American College of Asthma, Allergy, and Immunology, and the Southeastern Psychological Association. He is also recognized as a certified clinical research professional by the Society of Clinical Research Associates.
Prior to joining Avalere, Joseph was a research leader for IBM Watson Health, where he led the design and implementation of health economics, health outcomes, and epidemiological studies for life sciences clients. He also held the position of director of analytics for Health Analytics, LLC, where he was a principal researcher managing a portfolio of health outcomes research studies and associated analytic staff.
Joseph holds a BS in psychology from Coastal Carolina University and an MS in experimental psychology from Augusta University.
