Kent McKinney provides strategic advice to clients navigating the complex federal policy and reimbursement environment, with special emphasis on Medicare Part B.
Prior to joining Avalere, Kent led health policy for Allergan, a biopharmaceutical company, where he oversaw an extensive portfolio of Medicare Part B federal reimbursement policy initiatives.
During his time at Allergan, he supported commercial development by driving appropriate coding and reimbursement for new and existing products, as well as sharing policy insights across the organization. Prior to Allergan, Kent served as the executive director for the Maryland Health Insurance Plan, where he oversaw the creation of value-based medical and pharmacy benefits for chronically ill Maryland residents living with pre-existing health conditions.
Kent received his MPH from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University, where he currently serves as an adjunct professor. He earned an MBA at the University of Baltimore and a BA at West Virginia University. Kent also received a certificate in state and local government from Harvard University.
