Nyambura Barrow works collaboratively to support clients in health economics and outcomes research at Avalere.
She applies her experience in public health to a broad range of client projects.
Nyambura’s expertise is in urban health, health equity, social determinants of health, and evaluation techniques. Prior to joining Avalere, she was a senior research associate at Allena Pharmaceuticals where she designed, executed, and analyzed laboratory techniques to support analytical development and strengthen drug-manufacturing parameters. Nyambura has also worked in the Boston Public School System as a STEM lead and teacher developing relationships between the public and private sector to increase student access to workforce development opportunities within STEM industries. Her experience working in Managed Care Operations and Analysis at Massachusetts General Hospital gives her a unique claims-strategy outlook. Nyambura currently sits on the Spark Boston Council—housed in the mayor’s Civic Engagement Cabinet—responsible for advising the mayor on issues affecting millennial and GEN Z populations while working with city departments and community stakeholders to improve the lives of young people in Boston.
Nyambura is currently an MPH candidate at Northeastern University. She holds a BS in biology from Spelman College.
