Ray Kang

Associate Principal

Ray Kang brings extensive experience in market access strategy, genomics, real-world evidence generation, and implementation of diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in clinical workflows.

Before joining Avalere, Ray served as an Associate Director with Optum Genomics, a division of UnitedHealth Group Corporate Strategy, where he led market access and evidence generation efforts with diagnostic developers, assessing new precision medicine technologies for payer coverage and physician adoption patterns within contracted provider networks. Ray was previously a Senior Consultant with Optum Clinical Enterprise Programs, leading contracting and implementing health services research programs with health systems and industry sponsors to meet affordability, clinical quality, and value-based care objectives. Ray also worked as a Market Access Strategy Consultant with Optum Life Sciences, leading payer research, landscape assessment, and literature reviews for life sciences clients. Before joining Optum, Ray worked for EMD Serono, where he supported competitive intelligence and market research efforts across commercial and market access teams.

Ray holds a Master of Business Administration from the FW Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College with a concentration in healthcare and life sciences, and a bachelor’s degree in finance from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.
