Medicare Advantage Star Ratings: CMS Proposes Changes

Summary

Recently, stakeholders have raised concerns around whether the current star rating methodology appropriately adjusts for the socioeconomic impacts on quality ratings.

Studies by the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, CMS, and Inovalon have shown that socioeconomic status has a negative impact on quality ratings.

On November 12, CMS released much anticipated proposed changes to the star ratings methodology meant to address these shortcomings. Join us for a one-hour webinar on CMS’ proposed changes.

Panelists discuss the current star ratings methodology and a description of CMS’ proposed changes, along with questions that stakeholders may want to consider before the December 10 deadline for submitting comments to CMS such as:

  • What are the changes proposed by CMS?
  • What are the key issues with the current methodology raised by stakeholders?
  • How will these changes impact health plans and the industry more broadly?

Other panelists include Joe Plumb of Inovalon.
