Below are four of the 12 states that were examined in our latest edition of State Reform 360 ™.

The outcomes of these elections are particularly important to watch given their potential impact on Medicaid expansion and managed care implementation. Similarly, governors have significant power over the policy agenda in their states. This is particularly important given the state-level proposals surrounding drug pricing, formulary adequacy, and provider network adequacy.

In Missouri, the new governor may determine the fate of the state’s current plans to expand its managed care program statewide. In other states, New Hampshire’s Medicaid expansion relies on premium assistance, enrolling beneficiaries in exchange plans; the current administration is seeking approval for a two-year waiver extension through the end of 2018. At this time, North Carolina plans to transition its Medicaid program to capitated managed care beginning in 2019. The state has also looked to require manufacturer reporting of specific company cost and profit information.
