SummaryHealthcare industry veteran brings decades of Medicare Advantage, Part D, risk adjustment, and business expertise to payer, life sciences, and provider clients.
Avalere Health today announced that Tom Kornfield has returned to the company as a senior consultant. Kornfield rejoins Avalere from America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP), where he served as vice president of Medicare policy for 3 years. In his new role, he will help payer organizations, life sciences companies, and healthcare providers anticipate and adapt to the latest trends in Medicare.
“Tom Kornfield brings to Avalere more than 20 years of experience working on Medicare Advantage and Part D issues from the advocacy, commercial, and public sectors,” said Elizabeth Carpenter, head of Advisory Services. “As growth in Medicare Advantage continues to shape the Medicare landscape, Tom’s experience in risk adjustment and regulatory policy will be invaluable to clients.”
During his tenure at AHIP, Kornfield provided support to Medicare Advantage and Part D plans in the areas of risk adjustment, payment, and regulatory policy.
In addition, Tom spent 10 years at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), where he held a variety of positions focused on Medicare Advantage and Part D payment policy. His previous experience also includes work with Coventry Health Care, the Alliance of Community Health Plans, and the Senate Finance Committee.
Kornfield holds a graduate degree from University of Michigan’s School of Public Policy and a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College.
“I am thrilled to be back at Avalere,” said Kornfield. “Avalere’s ability to leverage data to translate policy change into actionable business insights is unmatched. I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm and clients across industry to navigate the evolving Medicare landscape”
