Alexis Garduno

Senior Research Scientist

Alexis Garduno is a senior research scientist within the Evidence and Strategy practice of Avalere, bringing extensive experience in RWE, evidence generation, and statistical methods, with expertise in pharmacoepidemiology and inclusive research.

    

Before joining Avalere Health, Alexis was a Pharmacoepidemiology Senior Analyst in the Global Patient Safety Division of Eli Lilly. Alexis was an independent contributor for regulatory, post-market surveillance studies, where she provided analytical expertise and statistical programming. Alexis has conducted observational studies in large healthcare claims databases through this role, in addition to earlier roles in academic and for-profit settings. Prior to Eli Lilly, Alexis worked as a Healthcare Analyst at Moda Health in Healthcare Services, where she reported on value-based metrics, gaps in care, in addition to cost and volume of group utilization. She also led program evaluation of several different company initiatives to address gaps in care.   

Alexis has led numerous publications in the fields of neurology, chronic disease epidemiology, and population health. These high-cited publications have appeared in Diabetes Care, Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society, and Nutrients, among other journals. Alexis was also one of the first T32 NIH trainees in the Advanced Data and Analytics for Behavioral Social Sciences (TADA-BSSR) program. This three-year fellowship deepened her research expertise in the application of advanced data analytics to big data.   

Alexis received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of California San Diego and San Diego State University (UCSD-SDSU) Joint Doctoral Program in Public Health. Prior to this training, she completed a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the Oregon Health & Science University – Portland State University (OHSU-PSU) School of Public Health. She also received a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from Stanford University.
