Shirley Bachman

Managing Director

Shirley Bachman provides consulting services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients on rare disease launches, patient services, and go-to-market strategies, inclusive of distribution models, hub services, contracting, and pricing optionality, and has developed value-based contracts in the ultra-rare and orphan categories to maximize value for patients.

Before joining Avalere, Shirley spent more than 30 years in the biopharmaceutical industry, specializing in Market Access. She began her career at Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals with growing positions of responsibility in field account management within several affiliates, including Janssen, Ortho Biotech, and Centocor. She then joined Medivation, where she built the Payer and Group Purchasing Organization teams to achieve maximum access for oncology patients before joining Alnylam as Vice President of US Market Access. During her time at Alnylam, she launched a new modality of RNAi therapeutics, building the department encompassing account and channel management, payer strategy, pricing and contracting, contract operations, and payer marketing, successfully launching four products and generating more than sixty value-based agreements with US payers.

Shirley holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the College of Charleston.
